Fort Wayne offers many dog-friendly events throughout the year, the Easter Bone Hunt has always been one of my favorite events to participate in! Every year it is held at Franke Park and this year we were so thankful it did not rain! This event is in support of Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control. All monies received for this event go directly to them!
It is a fun event for the whole family and is for a good cause – WIN WIN!
Registration for the event begins at noon and the event activities were from 1pm to 3pm. Only a $10 donation(per dog) to participate is required – this allows your dog to participate in the actual Easter bone hunt. You also receive a goodie bag with information and coupons to local Fort Wayne businesses.
Many local Fort Wayne businesses, both pet-related and otherwise, generously donated pet items, services and many other goodies to the raffle.
Once again, we were honored to be asked to be the photographer at this event. For an additional donation(all monies went to Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control, we donated our services/time/talent for free to benefit Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control), people could have their fur-kid photographed with The Easter Bunny – many people were in the photo as well with their fur-kid. This is always fun and we love that so many people have their photo taken!
Here are a few of our favorites 😉
Each year the Bone Hunt starts promptly at 1:30pm. We were blessed with wonderful weather this year!
This fur-ball had lots to say during the hunt!
After the hunt, all gathered their treats to keep and dropped off the plastic eggs while the start of the raffle began.
Boomer from WMEE 97.3 was the “MC” for the raffle giveaways.
The event had so many other activities to participate in and all nominal fees to participate in these activities went to Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control! Bob for biscuit, duck hunt and paw art.
These events not only provide much needed funds for dogs in need but they provide the Fort Wayne community an event where they can bring their dog for a good time. These events also give local pet businesses an opportunity to talk with the community and tell them about the wonderful services they offer – all who attend get to meet the people of these businesses face to face!

BIG THANKS to Jenn Pargeon(of Happy Dogs Daycare) and all the staff, volunteers and businesses who helped make this event possible and such a big success!
214 dogs were in attendance this year and $3949 was raised for
Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control(to be split between the adoption and volunteer program).
Happy Dogs Daycare used 100 pounds of Old Mother Hubbard Dog Treats to fill the approx. 9,000 plastic easter eggs!
They already have the date set for next year’s event and I hope it to be even bigger and better!
