This was the first year I attended this adoption event, held in Portland, Indiana. I did not have a booth this year, just came to check it out and take some candids. Maybe next year I will more involved. Although this event was smaller than some of the other adoption events held in Fort Wayne – their hearts and zest to get these shelter dogs adopted was very evident! There were a few familiar pet businesses and rescue groups. There was also a large area of donated items up for auction to benefit the local Jay County Humane Society. During the event there were several contests to show off your dog with best trick and more(see video slideshow at the bottom of this blog post!). Also Sheriff Boyd was their with his K9 for a demonstration and to answer questions about the K9 unit.
Flying Colors Canine Academy had a booth and was offering “Paw Art” creations by your dog with the proceeds to benefit Jay County Humane Society.
There were also some local pet vendors and businesses, including jewelry and bakes goods. This vendor had custom hand-made pet clothing and costumes. Their sweet Dachshund was obviously their primary model and “face” of the business. This bridal dress and veil was just too cute! Check out their website! Gibson’s Furry Fashions
Project Bully, the advocates for Pit Bulls and Bully Breed Dogs was also at this event. They offer so much information and education to help all of understand the misunderstood Pit Bull/Bully Breed! This was the first event where I had the opportunity to chat and get to know the volunteers and The Voice for those who have no voice —- and let me tell you, they have a passion and BIG heart for this breed and they ARE making a difference! THANK YOU!
I just LOVE when I get a chance to kiss a dog AND know my money is going to help that breed! Project Bully had an awesome Kissing Booth(Linus and Ruger are the mugs behind the booth) and I was first in line to pucker-up with Ruger! As you can see this sweet face “Couldn’t Hold His Licker”, you can see in the first picture I have my eyes gently closed, then I had to make sure to keep my mouth closed – I must be sweet(or still had some crumbs on my face from lunch) 😉 BTW go check out Ruger the Pit Bull-Ambassabull on Facebook!
Ruger happened to be celebrating his 1st Birthday – so of course, his mommy got him a doggie-friendly birthday cake and all his friends were around to sing him”Yappy Birthday”! It was an honor to celebrate with them!
And of course, there were so many sweet adoptables there to meet! BIG Thanks to all the volunteers who care for these fur-balls at the shelter and events! I encourage you never to give up and be The Voice for those who have no voice!
What a sweet moment that I was honored to capture… these kind folks just adopted this little fur-baby. During the complimentary nail trim, mom sweetly and gently stroked her face to re-assure her that she is heading to her forever home! Here is the first photograph of this family with their new fur-baby! Adopt don’t shop!
THANKS for allowing me to photograph and capture the memories from this event!
